Title: Live Web Cam-Barn Owls
Post by wheezie on Mar 22nd, 2010, 1:10am

Careful! This can be addicting!
It's a live feed of a wild female barn owl named Molly who is on a clutch of eggs. The owl box is located 15 feet off the ground. 1 egg broke and 1 owlett has hatched.
The male(McGee) has a white chest and face. He usually shows up after dark but has spent an entire day with the female.

There are other 'live' feeds as well. I enjoy the eagle on her nest and you can watch live web cams viewing hibernating bear, deer, racoons, and even underwater views of fish.
(My fav is still the Owl Cam. Momma Owl most active at night.)

I was up late and ck'd in on the Owls -a lot! :)

Poppa Owl delivered food twice, second time he arrived, he tossed a huge mouse in. While Momma Owl had it in her beak, the male jumped on her back.(poor baby owlett somewhere under her) and
I think was doing the 'wild thing'! :o Hmmmm...  [He left right after.]

Mamma pulled meat off the rodent and it looked as if she fed some to the hatchling but it's hard to tell. The Owlett kept crawling out under her beak as she was shredding meat.
I cringe when  see her big feet stomping around. Those talons have got to be razor sharp! And all of the owls are quite vocal.

See if you can catch Momma feeding that baby!  :-?

Hey Joe, 2 million+ 50,000+ people have viewed the Barn Owls to date!
I keep the site 'minimized' with volume 'up' when I'm online. When I hear noise ck back- Mollie talks to the male, McGee. He  delivers 'chow' and a 'quickie'.  ;)

Last pm, 2nd egg hatched, "Welcome baby Owlett, "Pattison"!. Mamma (Molly) promptly cleaned up egg by eating it.
PM/Nite viewing seems to be the best time but it's all good.

She's a great Mom, always moving very carefully around eggs and hatchlings. And yes, she's feeding babies just fine. Pulls strips of meat off and tucks in babys' mouths.

Guy who set up cam pops in occ to comment on what we're seeing. He set up the nest on the pole 2 years ago. Molly is first owl to move in.
You can 'log in' and post comments. Usually > 11,000 watching any one time.
re Bald Eagle Cam,an egg should hatch any time. They're beautiful birds.

Don't forget to click on 'Live Webcams' top of page for other critter/underwater fish views.
(I like the 'African' waterhole, lots of near sounds and elephants, deer, etc.,)
